Daughters of Ruth Home (DOR), Chiang Mai - This home is directed by Pastor Boonlert who also partners with Jim in prison ministries. He is a humble man with a servant's heart. We came into contact with Pastor Boonlert through ministering in prisons together. As we served together, we developed a friendship and were impressed with how he ministered to inmates in prison, released prisoners and especially the children of prisoners through his children’s home, DOR.

DOR children’s home is a unique ministry that was developed to provide a refuge for girls on the margins of society who are especially vulnerable to exploitation. DOR ministers to girls who have:
- both parents in prison
- one parent in prison and one parent who is deceased
- one parent in prison and one parent living in poverty
- been abandoned
In Thailand, girls from these backgrounds are extremely vulnerable. There is a very high probability of being drawn into human trafficking and ending up involved in prostitution, criminal activity or child labor. Pastor Boonlert created DOR as a place where these girls can experience the love of Jesus Christ. The girls are brought into a Christian setting where they are loved, counseled, mentored, and receive a quality education. Here they can come to faith in Christ and develop into disciples who will later impact their culture for Him as adults.

DOR has had a very vibrant ministry, but financial challenges have now come to threaten its future. We have felt the Lord lead us to help, so we are partnering wtih DOR and seeking to establish a secure footing which would help to guarantee its future and possibly expand the ministry to an even greater degree. This would include the following:
-
Child Sponsorship – This project would help meet the needs of each girl, foster prayer support, and build relationships between the girls and their sponsors. The monthly amount for a sponsorship has been set at $30.
-
Fund Raising for a Construction Project – Presently DOR is located in 2 rented row houses, one housing Pastor Boonlert’s family and one housing the girls. A row house is a 3 story, long, narrow building connected to other row houses on either side. The interior is cramped for a children’s home (45’ x 18’) on the ground floor with less space on the upper floors. There is no green space for recreational activities; the front of the home is a carport with a gate opening onto the street. The present location hampers the ministry of DOR and severely restricts its ability to grow. DOR owns a large tract of land north of the city of Chiang Mai. The land would provide an excellent setting for a ministry center where DOR would be based, but they have difficulty meeting their monthly expenses and have no funds to build. If a facility could be constructed, costs for the ministry would be considerably reduced. Through child sponsorships and the construction of a new facility, DOR would be in an outstanding position and its facility could be developed into a ministry center with an even greater scope including: DOR home, church, small halfway house for released female prisoners, and vocational training programs.
-
Procedure for accountability through our partnership with DOR – We, Jim and Becky Reynolds, will administer both the sponsorship program and fund raising for the building project. We will accept contributions for these projects and make sure that 100% of contributions designated for DOR will be transferred to them. At the same time, we will begin an English program at Boonlert’s home to develop closer relationships with the girls and to monitor how funds are used on the ground.
